The furthest of those I linked to seems to be less than five miles from the town centre?
Or were you responding to Reading Mum's assumption that you came under Wokingham?

St Joes is selective, but not as much as Abbey and Reading Blue coats. Although they still get pretty decent results.
Leighton Park isn’t selective.
They both still do entrance exams though. If you do very well at Leighton Parks exam you get called back to sit a scholarship exam (happened to colleague’s son).
Out of the two, for my DD I would pick St Joes (and I’d possibly pick it over Abbey except for one subject that St Joes doesn’t do and Abbey does, but that is a personal family choice) , but you’d have to look for yourself.
Leighton do regular open mornings.
Both should straight forward to get to from Reading.

Thanks tinkers. I am looking for maths and science more rather than arts. Which school is good for my DS..?
Any other thoughts or suggestions much appreciated

The best thing is probably to visit them and ask these questions directly.

I don’t know them well enough to say, but I’d say any of them will be fine across the board.scary parents wrote:Thanks tinkers. I am looking for maths and science more rather than arts. Which school is good for my DS..?

Hi - just reading your questions - my oldest friends son left St Josephs a year ago - he was one of the first boys to go there - he loved it and did really well there - he took the test for Reading boys but didn't get in - he was into maths and sciences and also drama - he is now doing a degree apprenticeship in a tech field.
