READING ALLOCATIONS 2019

Post by Tinkers »

In preparation for allocations day this week I've set up this thread, for those who have applied to Reading school.
I'll update the historic admissions thread with info the school usually provide, however if you wish to, it is may be helpful to others to post your score (if it's around the cutoff mark) as well as saying if you got a place or not.

ETA the school have now published the following
https://www.reading-school.co.uk/attach ... 0&type=pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

112.46 is the highest score on the WL for day places.

Scores and waiting list positions may also be helpful, if you are happy to share them.

If you haven't got a place and want to appeal then I suggest you head over to our appeals section first.
https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeals" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you still have questions then head over to the appeals section of the forum.

Any questions about the school etc, please start a new thread and keep this one about places, scores waiting lists etc.

My son got 111.67 but didn’t get reading boys in the first list looks like the cutoff this year has gone up significantly

From the FOI data, some findings below. @Tinkers, feel free to add to your historic data for future references.

- For in-catchment, 2019 distribution curve had shifted to the right (blue line in below diagram) from the 2018 yellow line, which represents the minimum admission score had shifted to the right hand side too
- For in-catchment, 2019 mean score is 99.03 (98.95 in 2018) not much jump but the mode has hugely increased. 2018 was 102.37 and 2019 jumped to 109.56.
- Total boys tested is 1070 with 773 in-catchment 297 out-catchment (jumped from 666 in-catchment 2018 entry, ie: 16% increase in-catchment)
- Within catchment, 139 boys with score higher than the WL cutoff. So one boy in catchment did not apply RS in the CAF or put RS in -2nd choice
- Within catchment, 92 boys eligible for waiting list but 3 boys did not apply RS in their CAFs or had put RS in -2nd choice
- Within catchment, 231 boys passed (200 boys passed in 2018 entry, 15.5% increase)

From Tinkers' historic data:

For 2019 entry (test 2018)
1) qualifying score is 108
2) 138 day places
3) 873 sat at Reading, 292 elsewhere (1165 in total)
4)361 qualified
5) 230 qualified and in catchment
Cut off on allocations day. Highest score on WL for day places was 112.46, (89 on the waiting list) highest core of boarding places WL 109.34 (4 on WL)

Great post, could you do it also in % so we can compare the distribution curve on a like for like?

What is the reference point of % you have in mind for comparison?

For those on the WL, I’m told it has moved a couple of places.
