Dear All,

I am new to this forum. We are looking to move in the Maidenhed area and came across a property at SL67 postcode.
When I checked the postcode it seems to be in the catchment area of Sir William Borlase's Grammar (3.6), at 2.9miles from Burnham Grammar.
But my question is whenther SL67 is in the Reading School (Boys') desiganted area or not. Is it too far from Reading School for admission purposes?
Please help.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Cheers

I will move your post to Berkshire where you may get more replies.

For Buckinghamshire, see the distance allocations in this post

SWBGS is very popular, and 3.6 miles away would be unlikely to gain your son a place. For Burnham Grammar the distances are shrinking, and although you would be likely to get a place from 2.9 miles, this year the distance on 1st March was 3.043 miles. If you look on the Bucks CC website you may find the most up to date figures.

I don't know about Reading Grammar, I'm afraid, but hopefully someone will be along to reply soon.

Edited to add: the second round allocations are here. SWBGS moved to 1.76 miles, and BGS to 3.242. The distances vary each year, of course, but usually follow the trend from the few years before.

Thank you very much for all your replies.

So couple of conclusion I am drawing from your replies:
1. SWBGS is out of question now, thanks for the heads up.
2. Burnham Grammar maybe/maybe not.

Now I am apprehensive about Reading Boys as SL67 is 11.654 miles from Reading School. Not quite sure if living in the Reading Boys designated area (SL67) would be sufficient (obviously my DS has to cross the cut off). I am just speculating if I should get more closer to the Reading Grammar School (Boys) in case they apply any distance rule on top of the cut off score?
Any suggestions?

Cheers

You are in catchment for Reading, as the link I posted confirms, so you have no issues there. The postcode you have given is in the list so therefore you are OK.

Distance only comes into play if there are two or more on the same score at the cut off, the nearer is ranked above the the other.
