Upton Court Waiting List

Post by veeram »

Hi,

My daughter is in 108 on the waiting list for rank order of score and number 2 on the waiting list for distance criteria.
Which one takes priority rank order or distance order?
What are the chances for her to get into Upton Court?

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

hi. there are no way that 108 other children will not take up a place at Upton, so ignore that ranking!

Number 2 for distance means that of the set number of places set aside for “more local children” (I think it’s 30 places or so), if any of those thirty drop out, they will contact the child number 1 for distance. if another of those thirty “local children” drop out (or number one on the waiting list for distance says no) , then they will contact you.
But if a child whose place is in the high-score criteria and they drop out, that place will go to a high scoreing waitlist child, not yours.

But to be honest this is a pretty long shot: it’s fairly unlikely two of those thirty distance places will give up their place between now and September. Still may happen but don’t count on it: and certainly don’t raise your child’s hopes of a place unless it happens.

Where are they planned to go at the moment, and are you happy with this?
You’re probably best to put UCGS to the back of your mind and focus on preparing your child positively for their allocated school, it’s very important for them to feel you have faith in them and they will do well in wherever they are placed.
