Qualifying score for Kendrick and Slough Consortium

Hi

My DG is due to take exam on the 14th, she has done a mock test and seems that she has scored 75%. I'm aware that this is the mock test and doesn't mean much. But would like to know based on your experience how much in the percentage they need to get? Also what does mean Qualifying score for Kendrick and Slough Consortium?

The qualifying score for Kendrick in the last few years has been 110 but last year changed to 107. So it could change anyway.

From memory the qualifying score for Slough is 111 or 112?


However for both it’s worth looking on how places have been allocated as the qualifying score may not be enough anyway. Things will be a little different this year as kendrick will have extra places for those in the priority one area. If you are in that the chances of getting a place improve, but since you are applying to Slough I doubt you live in the priority one area.

The Slough score has tended to be about 8-10 marks above the kendrick score (depending on the actual score, that getter closer as the scores get higher, it’s not fixed) but that might also change.

There’s no method of working out the raw score to standardised score. Plus there’s no means of knowing how the mock test relates in difficulty to the real thing.

Thank you for your reply. So qualifying score does not guarantee the place at the school? I'm so confused. Why we need the qualifying score then?

Is just to say that the child is eligible to get a place? If so what other factors will influence? May if there are other children performing better?

That’s correct, the qualifying score does not mean your DD will get a place. Kendrick allocate by rank order, according to their admissions criteria. Since catchment was introduced for those entering in 2013, no one outside catchment has got a place. I update the allocations thread every year so you can see what scores get places and how much the waiting list moves.

This year there is an additional criteria for the extra 32 places and priority will go to those living in the priority 1 area, (mostly postcodes that have at least some of the areaincluded in RBC, so local girls).

The Slough schools have different admissions criteria, which I haven’t studied closely. They tend to have a mix of distance and rank allocations though. Herschel introduced a inner priority area this time and we don’t have the allocations info yet to see the impact on Herschel and Upton Court, but from what we’ve seen, the rank score for Upton Court went up by quite a bit this year. Langley have priority areas and don’t tend to allocate outside those. St Bernard’s tends to allocate on faith (RC and other Christian) mostly.

Only for the extra 32 places. It has no impact on the existing 96 places.

Isn't all this set out in the schools' admissions info for 2020 entry? They are in breach of the Admissuons Code if it isn't.
