Starting this post to get everyone's view on which is the better school to apply for someone based in Reading

Upton Court vs Herschel Grammar School ?

If we ignore the fact that there will be travel involved, twice a day, 190 days a year, 7 years, 20 miles each way, what 11+ score are we talking about here?

For example, Reading station to UCGS, 4 persons in car (excluding driver), collectively would be just 26000 miles away from moon. And almost 83 days per person, across the 7 years.

Or your child could be home in her/his bike in 15 mins flat.

Is there a bus from Reading for Upton court ?

If you can use the train it might be better. Your child would be constantly late given the problems often found on the M40. It really isn't an easy journey for 7 years. Have you asked the school about buses?

Thanks ! What about other parents who have their children in Upton court ...How have they planned their journey from READING to Upton Court Grammar School (Slough) ?

You might also want to check transport arrangements with StB and LGS, as students from all three seem to be picked up and dropped off by same coach at LGS and StB/UCGS stops.

My daughter attends Upton. Her friend commute from Workingham by train. some of her friends travel from Ealing/ Paddington. So from Reading is possible, I think.
