My son is due to sit the 11+ next month and although he scores well in the VR, he finds the NVR more difficult, and the school dont tell you which one the children will be sitting. If any one has a child who is sitting or gone through the tests for Reading Boys, and has some advice, it will be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

kxangel,

We are sitting Reading on the 17th November and agree it's tough having to learn VR & NVR when at the back of your mind you know only one will come up on the day.

To improve NVR find some easier papers Bond do some for younger age groups, look at the NVR section on this forum, look at Bond How to do NVR book. My experience is that NVR score is greatly reduced by lack of sleep so only attempt when child is in a good state of mind.

Keep working hopefully it will all come right on the day.

Thanks, for your advice, I was beginning to feel totally lost. My Son only decided he wanted to sit for Reading after their open evening, talk about short notice. He is quite cool about it, im the one having sleepless nights.

Good luck to your son, hope all goes well for him.

My son got in last year by purely working through NFER practice papers. His worst worry was writing an essay! It was VR last year

Good luck.
