My boy got 233.

Other scores of people in the same class and part of clubs he does:
Boys: 226, 234, 251, 171, 210, 206
Girls: 212, 214, 224, 265, 228, 252

Have people been visiting the schools this week with their children?
Thanks

If you have a look there are a couple of threads about this questions, it's not a simple answer of this number or that number.

I have seen a post saying that a standardised score of 141 is possible for each section. Guess that would make it 282? Also pls refer to the first page of this discussion. nervousmom has compiled a data list of disclosed scores.. you can also go to previous year’s chats for more data sets...

The whole point of standardisation is to reduce scores to a common basis year on year so that the average score, every single year, is 200 (or more accurately, the average score on each of the two sections is 100).

If you can collect a representative selection of scores (but you can't, because people scoring below what they expect to be a qualifying score will be more reluctant to share) you will simply see the average score tending more towards 200 the more scores you collect.

It's entirely possible for the highest and lowest scores to vary from year to year because they depend on individual children, but the average will always be around 200.

um is entirely correct to suggest that the larger number of applicants might mean slightly higher qualifying scores but the effect should be small in any single year and might be lost in the "noise" (i.e. the variation in numbers applying to individual schools from year to year).

Thanks mike1880. We first heard about 200 being the average during the CHB head master talk when he dwelled into averages, cut offs etc. Can girls and boys have different test paper formats? Is it possible that boys found the exam harder (hence lower scores) and girls found the paper easier (hence higher scores)? I am only projecting a hypothetical scenario (not making any claims - please forgive the nature of my question) and better understand complexity of cut offs.
