Derby to Sutton schools

Post by Moonsun »

Hello,
I am asking for a friend. Their child was in the waiting list but has secured a place in BVGS.
The buses from Derby to Sutton schools are full and the driver doesn't intend to start an additional bus till next year.

Any suggestions on transport, the Walsall bus to Queen Mary has a place but the driver can only drop on the A38. Any suggestions please, anyone from Burton in same boat willing to car/ taxishare.

This is for my friend.

I'd suggest turning down the place and taking up a more practical option.

30 miles each way is a crazy commute for a child. Tell your friend to move house or find a different school.

The buses are full. So there are a whole load of kids on this journey.

And even after the geographical boundary changes in Birmingham grammars.

Just because other parents inflict this madness on their kids doesn't mean your friend has to.

How do the kids travelling from Derby get to school if they have an orthodontist appointment at home at 9.00? How do they travel back from from after school clubs? How do they get to their mates' houses on the weekend? What sort of independent life can they have when they're dependent on these buses to get to school so far from home? Seriously think about the needs of the young person before going down this route. It's just a school.

I agree and that's why I once now in sutton.

But the schools and foundation should also think so. I thought the whole idea of geographical boundaries for admissions was precisely this.
Currently we have 2 full buses coming from Derby and another from BURTON.
