movement of waiting lists?
Have all the dates passed for accepting places for schools?
If this is the case when and why do the lists start / stop moving?
Is there a time between now and september when the list moves faster??
Am waiting at the near top of the list of our local comp and our authority keep no data on waiting list movements.
many thanks to you wonderful people who know more than me!

Hi - don't like to see you talking to yourself !! Not sure if I know that much though
there are various reasons why lists can go on moving right up until the kids start the term (longer sometimes)
Some people accept and pay the deposit for an indie but have financial concerns that make them wary of immediately giving up the state school place they have been offered. Hence there are occasions when kids simply do not turn up on day 1 of the autumn term.
Some people end up moving house - the news that they have to comes after the allocations. - hence a place appears.
?? sure there might be more

ooooo people!
Thanks for replying.
Am thinking about appealing .... well have put the papers in and have a date just don't want to go and face people who really don't seem to care about personal circumstances that mean that that school is what you think will be best for your child.
National average rates say 1/3rd are upheld last year here it was 2/19 - and even with my maths its not a third.
They even take into account moving closer to the school on the appeal paper and then dont tell you if its the ones that moved closer that got in!
It's all rubbish.
I just wondered if there was a time that the waithing lists would move ie after easter/spring bank hol.
I can understand why people keep a place at a state school - but still find it .... well annoying...... or rather fustrating I just thought " hey 01/03/10 end of waiting, but ooooo NO!.
The one good thing is at least the council cannot over offer like King Edwards schools do, I found that hard going when you think your 3rd on a list but they have over offered by 20!!!..... unless YOU know different.
I'd Like to say I only get sensible answers of myself but thats just not soooo.

The final date for accepting a place was 17 march.
So I assume that lists move quite a bit after that date. Indeed a few days later a friend of mine was offered a higher choice school (not a Grammar).
The co-ordinated admissions system means that no-one can sit on 2 state school places, although technically they could sit on a place and also have an indie place. The deposits required for the indies are quite high though!
