Hello, can anyone confirm the date for school places, is it 1st or 2nd March for B'ham and Solihull.

Much Appreciated.

Birmingham letters are due to be posted on March 1st. My understanding is that all authorities post on the same day.

I am hoping that the offers will be posted 1st class (though I don't think that this is actually stated anywhere). Then it's down to the vagaries of the Royal Mail how long your letter takes to get to you. I am hoping that it will turn up on Friday 2nd, but it very well may not turn up until the Saturday. If it hasn't turned up within a reasonable time say Tuesday, and if everyone else has got their letters, then I would phone up and chase. After all there is a deadline for responding to the letter, so you can't hang around waiting for it forever!

When my year 10 daughter's offer was sent out, it was sent by the school. The KE grammar schools sent theirs out 1st class, but a couple of the comps sent theirs out 2nd class, which meant that their offers didn't arrive until about the Wednesday of the following week. As the offers are being sent by the authorities, at least they should all be sent out with the same postage on them.

If you live in Worcestershire this is posted late on the 1st March by 2nd class post. We got our formal LEA letter several days later - however if your completed your LEA application they will send an email on the same day.

Offer letters from KE Schools are sent 1st class

Hi everyone

In Birmingham the council sends out the letters first class on 1 March so you will get your letter on Friday, if the post is okay. I know we got ours on the Friday - it is just a little thin council headed letter. The following day we got a letter from the school itself to give details of the next step.

Good luck to everyone - it seems an age since I sat waiting for the postman.

Hi all,

Do you know if we do not get our first choice i.e Grammar, will the letter from the council also have the appeal pack in it? In other words - do I panic if it is fat? Or do they send it out at a later date?

Thanks

Don't torture yourself worrying about the size of the envelope. Just open it!

My daughter got her first choice school, but the letter was very thin and brown! It was difficult to find which school she had been given on the letter and I had to scan down to find the name. The letter was totally non-descript and had a tear off slip at the bottom (I think), but it was a year ago.

I think you would probably need to contact them about appealing, but don't count your chickens!! He/she might have got into the school you wanted.
