Re: marking system with the double emphasis upon the English section; I have been informed by a knowledgeable friend that when it comes down to breaking down the English component, the vocabularly section of the exam is more important than the comprehension section as it carries the same weighting as maths and non-verbal.
This is because of the 118 marks available for English, 59 of them came from the multiple choice vocabulary (50% of the English paper). Comprehension is 21/118 and only accounts for 8% of the total mark.

Thanks for the info. DIY mum,
If what u said is true then it makes me feel more worried bcoz. if there was anything good about the English paper then it was only comprehension according to DS.He said that most of the Synonyms and Antonyms were hard and so also the jumbled sentences
