I think people were just giving examples of mixing of KE schools in B'ham - am sure the experiences will be much the same

I also know a dd who goes to chg and says there are opportunities for mixing with the boys from chb.

I don't think there is much pre-sixth form, and even in the sixth form I get the impression the girls school woudl rather discourage mixing. My son joined CHB for sixth form from a mixed comp, and because he was already relaxed in the company of girls in lessons he was much more comfortable chatting to the girls in his (shock, horror!) mixed music A level class and various choirs/orchestras than many of his male classmates who seemed unsure how to relate to them at first. He made some good long-lasting friendships, boys and girls in his two years there.
