Are children more rounded if they go to an independent?

Interesting observation this morning from a fellow DP.
Children who go to an indi vs a gs come out as more rounded people.....discuss......

Is the real debate with regard to same-sex or mixed as opposed to independent vs grammar.

I'd like to know what people think as well ...
From several previous discussions on this subject my conclusion was they appear to be more self-confident and more eloquent ....
Maybe that only creates the impression they are more rounded? No idea...

A rounded child is a priority for some parents above an academic overachiever, but i am not sure that you have to pay to get this.
A dc at a good mixed comp who likes study, has good parents and also takes part in extra curricular activities will get you that child....surely.....
i believe that if a dc has access to the opposite sex that helps too...but does that make you more rounded or less awkward around girls/boys........?

I know some kids that go to GS that are well rounded too; maybe less carbs and more exercise will help.
How does one subjectively measure well rounded as well?

Any of the parents studied in these schools (GS, IND, COMP)? IMO, they can comment on this better.

you beat me to it! i was going to say I was always ( and still am) extremely rounded , even though I am a product of the state system.
i blame the suet puddings and free school milk

I've taught in a private school, a comp and a GS so I think that gives me some insight.
Personally I find GS pupils the most 'grounded'. In the comp it varied quite a lot and in the private school quite a few had a very narrow view of the world.

Very interesting.. Maybe the children at Indi schools happen to just sound more eloquent as they probably come from the richer middle class families?? Doesn't mean they are nicer children to be honest ( before anyone says anything, mine went/go to Indis ).
There just isn't a certain type of school to make a child more 'rounded'. After all, what does it actually mean?? A polite, well mannered child who knows right from wrong and respects everyone around them can come from any school and any area. You 'make' what your children are as parents. Your values will rub off on them.
