Advice for year 7 interviews at qmgs boys

Post by alex1 »

Hi ds has a interview in a couple of weeks time at queen mary's boys, does anyone have any previous experience of these interviews,as to what they are looking for or what they are going to ask?I think they want to see what ds is like and put him in appropriate sets or class?Any ideas.

Hi my ds is currently in year 8. The interview wasn't very long - about 10-15 mins and they basically just wanted to speak to him. He was asked about his interests, favourite subjects, what he would like to do when he was older that sort of thing. I don't think they are looking for anything in particular and they don't have sets in year 7, all the boys are taught in their forms. It wasn't scary for him or difficult but they did want to hear what he had to say and not us as parents!

On the same day he will also get his uniform sorted out and to be honest that was more productive than the interview!

Thanks Lshack, was not sure what the interview was for. Hopefully now he can go over some general things to say and not be sitting there with nothing to say. yeah will have to spend some money to get uniform, there is quite alot of sports kits that you have to purchase aswell. :( How is your Ds finding life at qmgs? Was surprised at their exam results, they are better than Aston and bishop vessey. :D

We went big on all the sports kit so he could get a few years out of it - think ds may still be wearing it in year 11!

Ds really settled there quite quickly and is doing really well. He is naturally very organised though so think that probably helps. Have just come back from his parents evening and always feel that there is a very easy, friendly atmosphere to the school. Fingers crossed your ds settles in well. Feel free to pm me if there is anything you want to know.
