In addition to all the above comments, Walsall Consortium schools don't give out either the rank or the score, if your child has clearly qualified for the school. i.e, if for example the QM boys has 100 places on offer and your child is ranked in the first 100, all you would receive from the schools you applied to is a congratulatory letter.

Comparing rankings this year to last may not be as simple as it sounds if as expected there have been more taking the Walsall exam to use it as a Birmingham mock. The extras may mean that the ranking needed for a place is lower this year.

Last year you received a separate letter from QMGS and Adams (only if you ticked the boxes on the application I believe). From Birmingham you get one letter with your score and all the schools listed with previous entry scores from prior year.

Is there any way to find out how many sat the exam?

DD sat for WGHS Tuesday, having heard that some schools had 2 sittings due to the amount applying I was expecting there to be more girls there than there was (still a fair few hundred but in my naivety I was imagining there would be closer to a thousand). Obviously at this stage it is only for me to torture myself with odds whilst we wait for 13th September and results.

Our letter from QMGS stated he was number x out of 850 applications. Not sure if that means for the sitting, for QMGS in total, or the consortium.

He also calculated how many boys were sitting it in his room during the break! (90)

There were 12 in the classroom DD was in at WGHS. Not sure how many classrooms were being used in addition to the main hall her friends were in.

My DS goes to QMGS and the Headmaster told them yesterday that 1200 boys took the test. Don't have any details of the other schools though.
