Great! But please someone find out the candidate numbers as if these have gone up due to birth rate it may well cancel out drop in QS. Does anyone know the total numbers who took the exam in 2012/13.

4600 children registered to take the test last year (slightly less took it as there were absentees).

This year, 4700 children registered to take the test.
2122 girls actually took the test. 2400 boys actually took the test.

My son last year scored 235 and was 42nd of the waiting list. So 42 boys on 5 points as the cut-off was 240.

If they increase the intake by 30 I would have thought the cut-off would go as low as 233. This is keeping in mind that they eventually filled the 93 place with the final cut-off of 238. And now they have another 30 to play with. So my guess would be 233!

The office said that around 20-30 girls would be on my dd's score of 231.

Obviously not all will apply to CH - some will apply to FW, QM, Handsworth, Stratford, Sutton etc. depending on where they live.

Um, that sound a bit high! Could they have 20 - 30 candidates including boys and girls ?

Any increase in numbers at the most popular schools will have an effect on all the others .This is great news ,just hope they start sorting the waiting list a bit earlier ,giving parents an earlier deadline ( to formerly accept ) as our DC had to change best friends a few times since September :D as the previous ones move to other Grammar schools .I thought that would have been ironed out before mid-October .
Twenty seven new places will see the last score after waiting list come down to about 230 I think .
