KES Interviews

Just wondered if they interview all candidates who have achieved the desired score, or is it just the funded children? Interviews are held between 20 Jan - 7 Feb. If I've not heard from them requesting an interview, is it likely that he's not got a place? Guess that would take the anxiety out of the results day on the 14th. Do they write to let you know if you've been successful or unsuccessful? Also any ideas how many funded places are available?

I think (and am sure someone will know better) that they interview those who have done v well with a view to scholarships / assisted places and also those who are borderline.

If people don't get an interview they are either in with a fee paying place or have not got a place

We have friends who's children have been called for borderline interviews and another friend who's child got no interview but a letter saying he had been given a full fee paying place.

Our elder DS was called to an interview with Mr Claughton, we were told it was a scholarship interview at the time. He asked our son why a bouncing ball will bounce and plasticine wouldn't,lol, after the interview Mr Claughton came out to meet us. We were told the % of scholarship in the offer letter.

Were you as a parent interviewed? X

We had a brief five minute chat with Mr Claughton when he bought our ds back to us after the interview. Our ds seemed quite happy and relaxed afterwards, he was asked about interests and hobbys etc. On the whole we felt they try to do an informal interview and try and relax the child so they don't feel under pressure. When do you think we will hear/how much notice?

Iirc, candidates for scholarships sometimes start getting the calls from the Friday after the exam. Most of the calls go out next week for the top end of scores. I think we had about two days notice but it is arranged over a phone call so you would be able to say if there is a particular difficulty.

I always thought borderline candidates get called up later in the process but when we went there seemed to be different kinds of interviews going on.
