Our ke result was 238. KEFW first choice, with chb 2nd and BV 3rd. Does anyone think it is worth registering for the KES exam?

Definitely. You won't lose your grammar school offers!

Do you think I would be putting my son through unnecessary trauma? What do people typically do?

We did no tuition after September for my middle son. He had a place at QMGS in the bag. (Not such a good KE score). We said he didn't have to sit the exam, but he wanted to! He was offered a place and is now very happy there. I think as long as you play it down as 'just another option' there is no reason he would find it traumatic.

Would transport be easier? Would you need a scholarship out assisted place? Fiveways is a very good school.

I guess I just want to cover our options in case we don't get five ways. It's not that I particularly want KES. Thanks for your advice. Like you say, we don't really have anything to lose :)

Five ways with that score is 100%. Why pay £10000 when a fantastic school like that is free? Why put your child through it? Unless it's something you aspire to leave alone. Preparing for another exam now is not fun.You have time, family fun' money and hair to lose!

Come to think of it, that's quite a lot to lose! My hair is definitely getting a bit thin

Mine went long before the 11+! We were in a very similar position and if we had gone down that road we would have lost the `support` of the dc concerned who by October had had enough!!

Wigs and toupees are considerably cheaper than £10k fees.
