Handsworth Grammar School was our first choice and my son scored 208 which is the cut off score for the school.
This morning we found out that he wasn't offered a place but instead has been offered a special measures (inadequate) school where he has to take two buses to get to.
I'm bitterly disappointed at the moment.
Will he be on the waiting list for HGS?

He will automatically be on the W/L. Once you know the cut off score you will have a better idea of waiting list chances. Previous years 208 would get a place. From a PM I've received I know that 216 has a place at HGS, so would imagine scores to be similar to last year. All the best.

You should go automatically on the waiting list.Katie custard wrote:Gutted BV not offered at 219. How do I go onto waiting list? :
Best to check with the FO. Foundation office.
Best of luck.

The Foundation Office is the office that deals with the consortium of Birmingham King Edward's Grammar schools. You can Google them to get a number.
Go to the first page of this thread and you will see a link to last year's scores.
201 was offered in September.
Nothings definitely course, but based on previous years I would say 208 will get you a place.
At least 44 places were offered from waiting list, so once you know your position (either from FO or worcs council, that will give more not an idea.
You will be automatically placed in the waiting list, where you will stay until Christmas.

Sorry this is not the news you hoped for.Caveman47 wrote:Handsworth Grammar School was our first choice and my son scored 208 which is the cut off score for the school.

Last year my one twin was initially offered a SM school too. He was offered HGS off waiting list in Sept. Hold strong - on 208 based on previous years there is lots of hope still.
