Hi all,

Does anyone have any idea if there are still options/entrance exams in the region around for children who missed the boat of this CEM exam?

Many thanks

I think some of the independent fee paying schools have exams in Jan? But depends on your area.

Thought so. Was not for us but for our friend's kids.

When you say "missed the boat" do you mean forgot to register and hence not take the exam, or do you mean didn't perform well in the exam?

If the former, then there is always an outside opportunity to consider year 8 entry into one of the grammars from a Comp if the child is performing well in a Comp. Individual grammars do have some opportunities for year 8 and later admissions. Selection for this is normally via exams run by the school (usually based on their internal end of year 7 exams). These exams are normally for children/parents moving into the region, but occasionally children performing well in Comprehensive schools can take these exams. (I actually know of one situation where a girl from KEHGS took the KEFW exam and got into year-8 at KEFW - she originally didn't score high enough to be selected at 11+ for KEFW but scored very highly in the KEFW year7 transfer exam)

I think there is a examination held for late applicants each year. Not sure about the cut of date or eligibility. Contact the council
