Camp Hill Boys have published the new admissions policy on their website this morning. Looks like the proposals have been passed. There’s no mention of score as yet but they’ve said both qualifying and priority scores will be published before the entrance test takes place.

Handsworth Boys have published their catchment map - looks like it includes some of Sandwell! So looks like there have been some tweaks...

They have listened and added in poorer wards from Sandwell who are close to the school.

Good decision. Looks like it’s a no to Solihull then if they’re not included in the Camp Hill catchment?

I heard parents are planning for legal action, not sure , council havent imposed any illegal measures here. BCC is giving priority to local children. Increasing or decreasing the score is upto the trust.

planning legal action ...
People who believe that the new admissions policies are in breach of the School Admissions Code need to proceed to the School Adjudicator.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/schools-adj ... rangements" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Objections to and referrals about determined school admission arrangements
You can make an objection to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator (OSA) if you think that the admissions arrangements of a local-authority-maintained school or an academy do not comply with the ‘School Admissions Code’ (the Code) or other legislation relating to school admissions. Certain exceptions apply as set out in paragraph 3.3 of the Code.

Deadline for objections
All admissions authorities must determine their admission arrangements by 28 February every year, even if they have not changed from previous years and a consultation has not been required. You have until 15 May to contact the adjudicator if you have an objection.

If you wish to make an objection complete the ‘school admission arrangements objection form’.

Admission arrangements can also be referred to the adjudicator who may decide to consider whether or not they comply with admissions law and the Code and make a determination
.

There is no problem legally with introducing catchments or prioritising PP.

Mitasol, I have been following this thread. The link I provided is an update from the 6th of March. They announced it on their twitter feed, that this update was available on their website. It seems from the 28th of February, the individual schools updated their admissions policy. Hence, the discussions on this thread. But there was no update on the main website. Thought it would be useful to post it!

What is of interest is that the Foundation has made numerous comments about affluent parents and affluent areas and have failed under the FOIA to even define the term affluent. The response, "Information not held."

They have failed to undertake a study on how many of it current students would live in the catchment areas, there has been very little due diligence.

Given that schools are funded via national taxes, I fail to understand the catchment areas.

There needs to be complaints to the Office for the School Adjudicator (OSA) for every school followed by judicial review (as the OSA is generally incompetent).

I wonder if any parents are going to challenge the admissions policies with the OSA.
Is there a thread on this forum for challenges?
