Re: Pupil premium - no haters pls
Do you have or can you ask for documents that can prove this, such as hmrc letters regarding your situation in 2016?space wrote:I was entitled to pp in 2016 after divorce and child was in Y2. For 9 months I was not aware I could have applied for it. Now child has got a pass mark for a local grammar but not the priority score. It was the school's fault not to have registered me and my children as pupil premium? I still have all the income support paperwork regarding that period. Wonder if it is worth fighting for a pp appeal or if anyone can shed a light or have been through something similar. I did not tick the PP in the grammar application. Any positive + informative comments welcome.
You can try to send these proofs to the Admissions and explain your situation, we never know...

You cannot backdate PP eligibility. PP Grant is issued to schools based upon those in school that have successfully applied for FSM in the previous 6 financial years; or whose parents are serving in the Armed Forces; or children that are/were in the care of the local authority. If you did not apply for FSM for your child at the time they were eligible, there is nothing the school can do about it after the period of eligibility has passed.
I do not think the Foundation would consider any appeal based upon this situation.

Wow just reading this...hadn't realise pupil premium was anytime in last 6 years...you could have FSM for a month 5 years ago ! Surely PP is for families who continue to struggle financially but have a child who would thrive at grammar school.

The six years is to cover disadvantage that that child may have had earlier on which may have been a barrier/hurdle to their learning.
Schools have to publish how they use the money to try and close this gap.
