This happens in some other grammar regions and sometimes means entrance requirements for distance or score go up on first reallocation rather than down.

KenR wrote:For those in catchment, scoring above the Priority Score, it's worth reading the full text of the Heath Monk's message on the KE Foundation Website. It may give some hope of a place via the waiting list. See:-

https://www.schoolsofkingedwardvi.co.uk ... e-schools/

In particular:-
He added: “We are keeping the catchment areas and scores under review. For example, we know that not all high-scoring non-Pupil Premium children in the Five Ways and Camp Hill Boys catchment areas will receive an offer today. However, we are confident that sufficient places will become available over the next few months – and they will be top of the waiting lists for those schools.”
This is a tweet from Heath Monk:

It did occur to me that the King Edward Foundation would know which children have places at KES /KEHS and which of those children also have offers of a place at their catchment grammar schools. Hence the confidence about places becoming available. I’m looking forward to finding out my child’s waiting list position!

Hi. I wasnt aware you could change preferences after offer day. Presume this could in theory mean all those with relatively high scores who did not apply cos they thought min score was 222, would have a chance?
Is it as simple as updating the preferences with the local authority?

There is guidance here on changing your preferences if you are in Birmingham - https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/info/2011 ... _7_place/2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It sounds like it would be worth pursuing. If your child has a score greater than the lowest score offered. Your child will not forfeit their current school allocation so looks like you have nothing to lose!

KEFW data on line. I can only assume the 4974m is a sibling as we are closer.... how frustrating!
Aha this is interesting- the furthest distance has been amended by KEFW. Last child admitted is 4461m. I rang the council and we’re 4557m... 96m too far away!

Couldn't you get in other grammars as a CAT 5 ?

Yes, but I believe in a local school for local children. I personally don’t think grammar schools are the be all and end all. My child is also adamant that they want to go to a mixed school so single sex schools were not a consideration!

Totally agree, I chose the grammar school that was closest to us, 2 miles, just wondered if you were close to another as on edge of catchment.
