Birmingham Consortium Waiting Lists 2020

Post by LouLouJ »

Hi all

Just thought this info might be useful for some awaiting news of places / waiting list positions. As we know, today is the day that waiting list positions for the Birmingham schools were due to be available.

The King Edwards Foundation website published an update on Friday that the Foundation Office is now closed and staff are working from home so enquiries should be e-mailed to the office e-mail address.

https://www.schoolsofkingedwardvi.co.uk ... arch-2020/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Having sent a (sensitively worded) e-mail with a tentative enquiry this morning, fully not expecting a response at all given the pressure they must be under in the light of the current crisis, this is the automatic response I did in fact immediately receive:
Thank you for your email.

If you are contacting us to request a waiting list position for any of the King Edward VI grammar schools, we will reply to you as soon as possible with your child's position(s). Due to a number of refusals since national offer day, each of the schools have places to be offered. We are in the process of offering these places before providing waiting list positions.

If you are emailing with regards to waiting lists for Bishop Vesey's Grammar School or Sutton Coldfield Grammar School, you will need to contact Birmingham City Council on 0121 303 1888.

For any other query, we will respond to you as soon as possible.
So perhaps some good school news for some? Do post here if you get an offer!
Good luck all - and stay safe. LL.

Thank you for the update.
I am awaiting Bishop vesey however when I called birmingham Council I was advised that this year the school itself were holding the waiting list. I didn't want to trouble to school today with what's going on. If anyone hears anything else could they update on here please.

I should be very near the top of the BV waiting list so if I hear anything I'll update it on here. We are on 223 and 6km further away than the last one in on 1st march

I didn’t think siblings was a criteria for the KES Foundation, is it?

It is for the catchment school (over distance). It’s not an over subscription criteria for non-catchment schools- it’s all on scores for non-catchment schools

I've just found out my son is 3rd on the waiting list for BV. About 6 miles away and on 223. I emailed the council yesterday.

We are very similar to you Sujatra.
Son scored 233
He got his second choice Fiveways/out of catchment
We are 79th position on waiting list for our first choice camphill.

Let’s see how the waiting lists change. Do you think we have a chance of a place??
Thanks
