We had an email from Warwickshire on 22nd July, saying they were awaiting guidance from DfE.

They knew nothing more then and said they would email us when they knew, at least 2 weeks before test date.

Also DS1 is getting A level grades on Thursday, so we have that to worry about too :?

Haberdasher Adams' Newport, Shropshire have extended the registration date to 4pm on Thursday 12th September 2020. The test itself has been delayed until early Oct 2020. (Details on per their website). So presumably the other schools in this consortium will be doing the same: Queen Mary's Grammar, Wolverhampton Girls, Newport Girls High, and Queen Mary's High.

Sensible

I don’t think there’s any evidence that covid will be around less the further we go into autumn and winter, in fact it’ll likely be the contrary

Therefore delaying it may mean it doesn’t happen at all

I think you are probably right as a vaccine is still months away and most experts are talking about next year.I think the decision to move the Walsall Wolverhampton consortium exams was a mixture of Covid preparations and the extra work caused by the fiasco over the A levels and anticipated havoc to be caused by the GCSE results. The delay is only by about four weeks.

Its not an easy time to be a teacher like all frontline workers. Hopefully Thursday is a happier day for teachers compared to last Thursday.

We had an email from warwicksjire yesterday saying warwickshire exam delayed until end of October beginning of November!

How can they be different dates when it's the same test?

I see from one of the other threads that the exam is now over four days from Saturday the 3rd October to Tuesday 6th October. The exam at Wolverhampton High School for Girls would normally take place on a weekday on the one day with the school being closed to its own pupils. This year it seems the school will be closed for teaching to its own pupils on Monday the 5th October and Tuesday for the 6th October. There are usually a few girls in to help administer the exam with corona virus it could be different with the girls having to stay in their bubbles.

The positive is many people in the past have taken both the Birmingham consortium exam and this consortium exam, with the present time tables the gap between them is now a few weeks from a few days allowing a greater period of revision for those taking the Wolverhampton consortium exam.

Not so much of an issue now that both Birmingham KE and Warwickshire have catchments, at least not for Birmingham. There are very few non catchment places for the popular Birmingham KE grammars and, of course, the catchment priority score for Birmingham is lower. If there is a risk it will be for Warwickshire.
