Anyone has children going to Bishop Vesey from Edgbaston or Harborne? I would be keen to hear regarding travel options.

My nephew travelled from Harborne - for the first few years on the cross city line from the University station (loads of boys get this train) and for his last yr at school he caught the bus to town and took the train from New St.
Depending what part of Harborne a couple of buses go to the university station (eg 48)

My daughter (sixth form at BV) travels on the cross city line from Northfield to Sutton Coldfield. There's plenty of others doing the same - particularly getting on at University. It's a really short walk to school at the other end too.

Thank you very much. Did your daughter travel from year 7 or later? Trying to figure out if safe for year 7's to go independently. My DS is generally confident and happy to travel. I have been a bit worried. It is good to know that many kids take train.

Regards

My nephew travelled from year 7 on the cross city line. They’re building a new station at the university so it will be more pleasant waiting (it gets crowded).

My twins are at different schools, twin 1 is quite anxious and I thought he would struggle with the bus (he’s in a world of his own so I had visions of him missing his stop). We practised the route a couple of times the week before he started in yr 7. I travelled with him and the next trip I put him on the bus and drove to the getting off stop to meet him.
Going by bus has really helped his confidence. My other twin has to get 2 buses so they have a more tricky journey.

We have iPhones so it’s quite reassuring to know they’re on the bus!

My son is in Y13 at BVGS and has done 7 years on the cross city line from University station. There are occasional issues but they have always managed to figure out a plan B via buses. I also catch the train for parents evenings etc as so much quicker than car.
