KES 5ways
All forms of life there today!
- kids bursting into tears.
- over anxious parents.
- the confident candidates from the shires.
- delays due to kids throwing up mid test.
Oh well that's that done.
Excellent organisation mind you, especially by the prefects.

My son did his test at KE Aston and the first thing he said when he came out that it was way harder than the Bishop Vesey exam and by the looks of the responses it was difficult for everyone.
Glad it's over now and just got the Handsworth Grammar next week and QM in December.
Just relaxing and enjoying the evening ...

Re: KES 5ways
We were all ready for the above, especially the hundreds of people queuing/kids throwing up, crying their hearts out etc and decided to get there really early. Arrived and checked in then sat and drank hot choc with a friend and her daughter!! there were none of the anxieties that we were all expecting. It was a really peaceful place where we were and ran like clockwork. In the break some classes played hangman(and some of the tutored kids were trying really hard to outdo each other with very big words!!scepticpeg wrote:All forms of life there today!

Poor kids throwing up. What is all that about??
We're from worcestershire officially - does that mean we're the confidant candidates from the shires?? why??? intrigued!!
Hi all,
Thank goodness that's over! I think even son was a little tense in the end (he woke me up at 2.30am wanting me to search the laundry basket for a drawing he thought he might have left in a trouser pocket...).
Camp Hill was very well organised, I was impressed to see the head well to the fore welcoming every boy, and a row of pupils waiting to escort each one in to register. In contrast to others, I tried to arrive as late as was safe (11:30 less 105 mins = oh my god, he could be waiting an HOUR before they start!!! - in the event we arrived at 8:55 which was cutting it a LITTLE bit finer than I'd planned .
As expected, the test itself was "alright". So then I applied the thumbscrews and he seems to have had very much the same experience as others. He said it was a little bit harder than Bishop Vesey, but not much, and not as hard as some of the practice papers he's done; verbal papers were "easy", maths "one easy, one very hard".
So now we just have to wait for 4 months to see whether he's right...

one of the boys in my daughters class wasn't allowed in as he was late. They had to stop the clock and the test for a minute whilst the teachers had a chat initially. They felt it would disrupt the children if he was allowed in. Not sure if they may have had a late room, as the queues suddenly became awful at 8.35. More than one child would have been in that position. What a shame, all that build up then not allowed in!! People had left it a bit late I think. PArking was then a bit manic and held folk up. Felt sorry for some that were clearly looking stressed. Couldn't have coped with that personally so were too early but amazing how calming a hsm3 magazine can be for a 10 year old!!! anyway glad today is over. Time will tell.

My older daughter said the same last year - we spent the 4 months assuming that she'd maybe not 'got' the questions and had possibly not done too well!!ews147 wrote:I'll reserve judgement on those that claim it was 'easy'...
roll on March!
But easy/hard - the proof of the pudding will be eaten in march I guess!

did yours that found it "easy"they get in?? I keep wondering if my DD just didn't get the questions as she came out so confident but she had done lots of papers before hand as she so wants to get into FW's . I know only time will tell and if she doesn't get it its not the end of the workd but when they want something so much its hard to see them not getting it.
