To be precise (if not pernickety!):

PAN = Planned Admission Number

"IO" is actually IA = in the catchment area of the school. In most cases that is within Bucks itself, but there are a couple of schools whose catchment areas extend into other counties, by mutual agreement between the Local Authorities.

OA = not in catchment for the school.

I have read this somewhere

NEW FOR 2018 Following National Offer Day on 1 March 2018, waiting lists will be held for all oversubscribed schools. This year, if a place is not offered at a school of higher preference than the school allocated, then a child’s name will automatically be placed on the waiting list for those schools at which a place was not available and for which the child is qualified to attend.

Parents may also choose to appeal for a place at a school. If the school is a grammar school they can do this irrespective of whether their child is currently qualified for entry but parents should make sure that they understand the guidance on the website regarding this.

I'm sure that I've read on this forum that the schools are given our allocation results one week before we find out... does anyone know whether this is definitely the case?

Yes 100% - they will send out information from today onwards - I am talking about Bucks schools this may not apply to out of catchment schools
