Bucks practice test
Hi,
Bucks have scheduled a practice test one week before the actual exam. Does anyone know if this will be a full test of same length and is it mandatory for the applicants to take the practice test?
My DD has taken some mocks by private tutors so don't think we would need another practice test but need to be sure that it is not mandatory.
Thanks

Re: Bucks practice test
It is not compulsory, see the post here
If your child is at a Bucks primary school they will automatically sit it at school. Where is your child at school?
The practice test is shorter (sse the website, but I have quoted it below):

The practice test is shorter (sse the website, but I have quoted it below):
Your child will take the practice test before they take the Secondary Transfer Test.
The practice test looks the same as the Secondary Transfer Test and has the same instructions. Your child will sit the two multiple-choice Practice Test papers in test conditions. These are both timed like the Secondary Transfer Test. An audio soundtrack gives the instructions for the test.
The practice test will mean your child becomes very familiar with the different sorts of questions and the style of the test. Your child will get used to using a separate answer sheet. Your child will experience this under test conditions. The Practice Test papers are shorter than the Secondary Transfer Test:
they take about 40 minutes each
they are not marked or sent home.
The purpose of the Practice Test is not to see how well your child has done. It is to give your child a good opportunity to prepare for the Secondary Transfer Test.

Re: Bucks practice test
Thanks for the clarification that it is not essential but only to help familiarise with the format.
Re: Bucks practice test
Are you out of county? Sitting the practice test where your child will sit the real thing is also an advantage as they are familiar with the place & the procedures.aarushpmr wrote:Thanks for the clarification that it is not essential but only to help familiarise with the format.

Re: Bucks practice test
Why would you not let your child do the practice test? It would surely help, mocks won't be the same. How many 11+ tests is your child going to be taking?
Re: Bucks practice test
Is she at a Bucks school?
If so, the whole class will be taking it. What will she do while they are in the test?
Won’t she feel left out?
