Thanks for all your replies. The school is saying it is their usual practice in 11+ tests to not to have a clock in the room. Wish they had informed the parents so that the children could have taken their watches without fail. They say they wrote the finishing time on the board! But if you didn't have a watch I'm not sure what purpose it would have served. The teacher who invigilated the test says that she has been doing this job for a while and followed the guidelines by stating when it's halfway time. Doesn't look like the school is going to do anything different for the 2nd test.

The best thing now is to concentrate on the 2nd test - My dc will not forget the watch this time.

Ah well. One down with one to go. Lessons to be learnt from the first one.

Of course the scary thing is how confident all my little students are as they've checked in with me. On the one hand I should feel pleased for them, but on the other, if it was an easy test it still has to be standardised!
