Hi there

Am I correct in assuming that a pass mark does not guarantee a place at my preferred grammar school in Bucks ?

Not if you are out of catchment.

No, not al all. A pass mark means that your child has qualified for consideration under the school's other admissions criteria eg siblings, catchment, distance etc. You will have to wait until early March to find out which school your child has won a place at.

Midget Man: Even an in-catchment child who has qualified might not get a place at a very popular school.

I know that in catchment may not get a 'popular school', but thought they 'were' atleast guaranteed a GS place within Bucks?

Oops, I hadn't read the 'preferred' bit in the question, thanks for pointing that out Drummer :D :oops:

I think if you are in-county and tick the "GS trumps-all-box" on the CAF THEN you are guaranteed a place at 'a' Grammar School

Hi,

Can anyone tell what was cut off score for OOC child for Burnham GS last year, I know minimum is 121 but how does it work with distance criteria. Does score is a consideration if child is OOC ? I mean OOC children getting 121 or more get a guaranteed place ? We are OOC, (score removed by Moderator) I hope he should get a place at BGS.

Other than passing the test the score is irrelevant. Have a look at the allocation profile http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/11-plu ... rofile.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For all schools in Bucks, all children (IC or OOC) scoring 121 or above are considered equal. Whether your child gets a place depends on other admissions criteria, such as catchment, siblings, distance.

Burnham Grammar is usually undersubscribed, and therefore you should get a place unless it has suddenly become much more popular or you live a very long way away.
