Not sure what MK123 is on about - nothing to do with my own thread !! Sorry to hear that Bucks are likely to be pretty tough - but fingers crossed.

Original thread about allocation distances. MK123 is just outside the distance needed. :(

Marylou-Yes, I have become a bit of a night owl what with allocations for all the newbies and then it's also the run up to the camping season so have been making lists and researching online as to what purchases I can make

MK123- Bucks will not be able to give you positions on waiting lists as of yet until all requests to go on lists have been received and processed. I think you will find out position on them on 2nd round allocations which last year was 'supposed' to be 13th April I think, didn't arrive until 2 dys after this though

Hi mannic
mannic wrote:I'm not sure if this is the right area of the forum to raise this - but thought it could definitely be of general interest. One of my friends had moved out of their house some 8 months ago, so it could undergo some major renovations- but Bucks insisted that they placed their new temporarily rented accommodation on their son's application form as the ADDRESS. This placed him a couple of miles further away from his preferred Grammar school - and it seems that he may miss out as a result !! Does anyone have any similar experience or advice ??
I am afraid that the best advice is for them to move back in to their home as soon as possible and provide proof of that to Bucks CC.

There have always been issues with people moving closer to Bucks grammars in order to gain places and although the opposite situation is unfortunate, BCC have to apply the same rules.

mk123 wrote:Thank you all for encouragement. Yes, we/DD/ are around few extra yards from the published distance for SHF. :( Just at the wrong end of MK so fingers crossed waiting list takes this a bit further in April.
I will be emailing Admissions to inquire of the exact distance now. Hope they will be quick replying and definitely faster than the online application today;) MK online admissions was flawless today but then volume makes a difference.

MK123... if you put your DD on the waiting list for AHS and SHF, as well then you will probably at least one..

Hope the second round allocation comes around quickly for you.

monsoon,
Congrats on getting your first choice! You must have had a happy house last night. ;) I hope all have recovered from the stressful day and have got plans/actions forward.
Yes, I do realise the greater chance of selecting both schools. We are still deciding on this as DD is particularly keen on SHF for its specialist subjects and specifically the drama/dance/arts related possibilities. It is very important for us that the alternative we got locally is not bad either and this keeps things positively balanced at home for the next few months.

Thanks Mary-Lou.

Looks like this part of the world is particularly blessed with grammar and upper school places this year. :D
