Have posted the new profile.

Amazing that both RGS and JHGS are both 'All offered' this year.

joop,

Thank you for finding this! Unfortunately not good news for us again
SHF still hasn't moved an iota.

Good luck to those few waiting! Hope there is good news for some.

BHS must be incredibly close to being All Offered. It has gone from 7.503 to 11.428 and is now 18.190 miles.

Otherwise, no change apart from JHG being All Offered, and BGS creeping up by 0.7 miles.

MK123-Wouls AHS or AGS not been an option for you at all? Being on the waiting lists can't do any harm. Are you going through with an appeal for SHF? Feel for you that your wait still goes on, really hope you get the desired outcome in the end :)

MM,

Thanks for kind words.
We chose SHF due to its specialities subjects and co-educational status. Our DD is adamant that she wants it! In the end the journey is going to be 1+hour each way so she ought to have the last word. As for appeal we decided eventually that the odds will be heavily against us as OOC and having had one appeal recently in Feb it will be too much to cope with the likely negative outcome. Alternatively things should work out ok for us in a good local comp for which DD had to sit aptitude test too. We realise that at this stage the chances are virtually nil but is difficult to suppress the hope from inside.

Does anyone know why things are so different this year for some of the schools? Places like JHGS & RGS are so drastically different to previous years. And would we expect something similar next year or is this a blip? (Crystal ball anyone? :D )

Indeed - they were advertising to fill the vacant places in the local newspaper last week.

In answer to your question, scary mum, it is mainly demographics. Next year could be completely different, although when you look at the allocation profiles year on year, there are certain schools that have very similar profiles each year. One factor that has probably tipped the balance a bit this year is the tighter rules for proof of residence at DCGS, which means that they have allocated to a much greater distance. That will have affected the numbers at RGS.

I know of one GS that is guaranteed always to be oversubscribed, mainly due to its position close to a lot of county boundaries...
