Agreed, but for those having trouble sleeping, there's a website which explains ACORNs at http://www.caci.co.uk/acorn-classification.aspx and it offers a free trial where you can plug in your post code and find out your category! Our postcode comes out as:

Category 3 	Comfortably Off
Group 	H 	Secure Families
Type 	28 	Working families with mortgages
which is partly correct for some of the households I would say...
