How many applications for Beaconsfield High School in 2010?

Post by SingleDad »

Hi

I'm sure the information is somewhere.... I've looked but can't find it.

Can anyone tell me where I can find out how many children applied for BHS last year?

Thanks,

321 placed BHS as their first preference, and 142 of those qualified by achieving 121 or more in the tests. Successsful appeals are not included.

Is that what you were looking for?

I don't know why you want the numbers but do remember that was just ONE year and I don't think it was a typical year at all. Last year the school was able to offer places to ALL the qualified girls who applied. In many other years many qualified girls in catchment have not been allocated a place.

More of a curiosity than anything else, especially after having gone to a few School Open Evenings where this figure is used as part of the presentation. One of those things where "I wonder how many people....."

I realise figures change from year to year, and that the cut-off distance from school plays an important part in the calculations used to offer places.

Thanks all,

Just to clarify, those numbers exclude any higher preferences for OoC schools, selective or otherwise. Obviously 99% of the higher preferences are likely to have been selective, so the numbers are those that would apply in the event that all the girls were successful in Bucks and unsuccessful in other tests.
