AHS have very few pupils joining their Sixth Form from outside - I copied these entry requirements from their website:
ENTRY TO YEAR 12:
1. At least 12 points at GCSE, where A*/A = 3, B=2 and C=1
2. Grade B or above in the subjects to be studied at AS/A2 level. If the subject is new to you at AS/A2, then we shall look at your overall GCSE grades. We would normally expect you to have obtained at least a B grade in a subject deemed to be similar or especially relevant.
3. Grade C or above in English and Mathematics.
In addition, you will need:
· The capacity for independent study and an enquiring mind
· The determination to make the most of your time in the Sixth Form, and
· The willingness to become involved in the life of the school.
ENTRY TO YEAR 13:
· Students will not normally be permitted to take at A2 a subject in which they have achieved less than a grade D at AS
· Students will not normally be permitted to enter Year 13 unless they are taking at least three A2 courses.
RLS:
A minimum of 5 passes (A* - C) at GCSE level including Maths and English (also at A* - C), with 'B' grades in the subjects to be studied at AS level. There are exceptions to this general rule, e.g., Italian requires A* or A in a foreign language at GCSE level. A supportive reference is also a requirement. All prospective students are interviewed. Students study a minimum of 4 AS subjects; some take 5 in Year 12. Most students then drop down to 3 A2 subjects in Year 13.
Main difference - at RLS lower AS results are not a barrier to Y13 as you can resit.
Results at all schools do fluctuate with the cohort -
