Post by Manny0311 »

Just seeing what peoples views are on making their children do continuous papers leading up to their 1st paper on the 4th ?

Having done regular (twice-weekly) familiarisation sessions at home with DS in the six months leading up to the tests last year, I actually felt it beneficial for him NOT to have to face a practice paper every day after school in the weeks leading up to the test, as I didn't want 'test-fatigue' to set in! Instead, we just kept him ticking over with the 10-min daily tests every other day or so.

Obviously, every child in every family is different, so I'm sure others will share different strategies that they used, but in our case DS felt relatively confident and relaxed on the test days and reached a qualifying score in both. My advice at this stage of the game (freudian slip??) would be to practise a little on a regular basis and to make sure your child is calm and well-rested before each of the tests.

Best of luck to all DCs sitting this year.
