Does anyone know wha level a child must be at the end of year 8. My DC is currently a level 6 in Maths, and level 5 in English and Science.
Target for the end of the year is level 7 for Maths, 6 for English and top end of level 5 for Science.

SWB have a 2 year key stage 3 and there the children finish with levels 6/7 - 8. Can a comparison be made here with a 2 year KS3 or 3 years KS3.

There is no must be, students progress at their own pace and can suddenly get it and overtake other students who started well ahead of them. It also all depends where they started. Our school tracks progress from CATS tests so if you did well in those tests and then taper off a bit things can look really bad on your report. But students who did badly on those tests can end up with glowing reports because they have done better since then. 5A in Science seems low for the end of Y8, my dd is on 7C now and is targeted 8 for end of Y9. We are by no means a science family, English and History all the way, but our school has science as one of its specialisms and 80% of the 200 do triple science. Have you got a parents evening coming up? What were your dc's level coming out of primary? DG
