2013 BUCKS APPEALS BOOKLET

Post by Sally-Anne »

The booklet for appeals against both non-qualification and oversubscription can be found here: http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/assets/conten ... _guide.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For non-qualification, please note the following:
If you are appealing against the refusal of a place at a grammar school, your child is an unqualified child (i.e. he or she achieved a score of 120 or less on the verbal reasoning test) and you followed the selection review process and were unsuccessful:

The question that the IAP must determine is whether the selection review was carried out in a “fair, consistent and objective way”. The Admission Authority will provide the IAP with all of the documentation used in the selection review. This will include the review decision, the evidence submitted by the appellant and the decision letter. If you consider that the selection review was not carried out in a fair, consistent and objective way, you may wish to submit evidence in support of that argument.

If you are appealing against the refusal of a place at a grammar school, your child is an unqualified child (i.e. he or she achieved a score of 120 or less on the verbal reasoning test) and you did not apply to have a selection review:

If you did not take part in the selection review procedure, then the IAP will want to understand why your child did not perform as expected in verbal reasoning test. The IAP will require evidence to support your claim that your child is of the required academic standard for a grammar school. You may wish to consider providing school reports and a letter of support from your child’s previous or current school.

In all cases (appeals for Primary, Upper, Grammar qualified and nonqualified children), you must provide reasons why you believe your case outweighs the Admission Authority’s case that admission of additional children would cause prejudice to the school.

Note also that, although it is not mentioned in the Appeals Booklet, appeals for Dr. Challoners Grammar School will be managed by the school itself. Details of the timetable are here: http://www.challoners.com/documents/con ... le2013.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The application form is not available on the website, and I assume therefore that you will need to call or email the school to obtain one.

If there are any questions about your own appeal, please feel free to ask in a thread about your own case on the Appeals Forum - and please stick to one thread, as it helps us to have everything to do with your case in one place. Thank you! :)
