So the question is, what is Robert Preston magic formula? He has pulled 6 schools out of special measures in 8 years, but is obviously tiring of his super executive head job, as he has decided to become a normal head and stay at misbourne.

There should be nothing he can do that the heads of the other: small town and village, fairly affluent area, stable family catchment, local uppers cannot. Rather than making it a mission to improve one particular school above and beyond like a flagship, surely the local authority should be ensuring all the bucks uppers with similar catchment demographics follow his formula and get to at least good standard.

Our two local primary schools have parents rejecting our local upper in droves, and putting misbourne first on the caf. To send a child to the local school is free transport, to send them to misbourne will cost in excess of £150 per term plus extra journey times for clubs etc. The misbourne will benefit from gaining more wealthy well informed families on their lists, whilst the local school will simply lose out to having these families, have a harder task of educating a wider spread of ability drawn from surrounding large towns, and slip further down the offsted reports.

This excellent result is down to the huge effort of all staff and students at the school. As a parent I am delighted that the school has achieved this result.
