Moving to Bucks from Kent

Post by johannb33 »

Hello

Our DD already attends a grammar school in Kent and is in year 8, I have just found out that she will be required to take the 12+ test in order to get a place within a grammar school in Bucks... We are aiming to get into AHS.

BUT despite doing another test, she may not get a place regardless. We are extremely stressed about leaving Kent and a great school to move to a new home in Bucks but running the risk that DD won't get a place.

Is this likely???? Does anyone have experience/advice on this?

Stressed out Jo

Welcome! :)

I'm afraid it's what will happen if the school is full.

However, if refused, you can appeal for a place, in which case the arguments for and against will be balanced.

My advice would be to apply to more than one school.

You are moving at an awkward time as 12+ results have just come out and so I think places will be allocated before your daughter's case is looked at.

I would think you will almost certainly have to appeal for a place - lots of help on here though ...
