Can anyone tell me why these two are the odd ones out:

The question is:-

lime, orange, peach, apple, grapefruit

Which are the odd ones out.
The answer in the book is peach and apple.

Please can someone enlighten me!
We can't work it out other than apples and grapefruits have thicker skins!

Thanks. I did think of this but wasn't sure if apple was citrus - silly me!
This is a hard one for an 10/11 yr old!

Yes it is hard.

These kinds of questions give the 11+ a bad press (in my opinion) as they rely on world experiences or general knowledge that some kids just may not have had the opportunity to pick up.

I have a similar quibble with another pratice paper which relies on the child knowing what a lupin is.

I hate these questions; the answers are always subjective.

peach & grapefruit are the odd ones out. They don't end in 'e'.
