Oy, cheeky monkey, my ellipsis separated my clauses perfectly, although maybe, just maybe I should have written: her dad was also impressed.

I like it! However, I do enjoy being a pedant, or rather, I enjoy seeing how things are written and how they can be read. My pet hate is the ubiquitous phrase "for free" as in "Buy this TV and get this DVD player for free". You might get something in exchange for nothing, or free of charge, but "for free"? Breaking it down, the "for" is short for "in exchange for" and "free" is short for "free of charge". Therefore, the full phrase would become:

"Buy this TV and get this DVD player in exchange for free of charge." Clumsy and nonsensical.

You can get a diamond ring for a lot of money. Can you get a diamond ring "for expensive"? If you can get something for free, surely you can get something for pricey?

You need to start a pendants revolt thread, another dad and leave this poor ops thread on 11+ diy tuition in bucks alone...

I will happily contribute if you do and I know daogroupie will get a lot off her chest.

Did you mean pedantic banter, perchance?
