Hi,
My DS qualified to apply for for bucks 11+ grammar school. WE live in Pinner ( out of catchment) and planning to apply for
the schools where catchment is not the criteria. We are thinking to put 2 name out of Chesham grammar, Royal grammar and Aylusbury grammar school. My understanding is chances are more for Chesham.

Any advise for finalizing the best option of out of catchment people please ? We are flexible to move bear to any of the schools.

Thanks in advance

Catchment is a criterion for all if them. You need to look at all the school websites for details & the previous allocations which (I think) are on Sally-Anne's post on the results thread. You would not get in to RGS from Pinner.

These schools are very different to each other! Which one did you prefer when you visited?

You can check for yourself here

I would advise against choosing a school based on results. As G55 said, which did you prefer when you visited. Do you prefer mixed or single sex? As I said before, you won't get RGS from Pinner, but you will see that on the link I posted.

Many thanks scary mum. data you shared is really helpful.

My son appeared for WBGS and scored 246 . This is not a very high score but I am not loosing hopes.
If there any way( websites etc) where I can get similar detail cut off marks ( on 1st Mar and later) details for Watford boys ?

We are in the same situation as luvingdad. DC scored 251 which is lower than the last year cutoff for WG. DC score for Bucks is above 121 so planning to put Chesham GS as one of the choice.

Thanks scary mum for your response. In your link , I could see that RGS called people having starigh distance 16.137 miles. my place is 16.3 miles. I understand that its not sure but there can be a possibility of getting place in 2nd round ( if distance cut off would increase by .5 miles)

Do I have the correct understanding ? Am I missing something here since you mentioned I will not get RGS as I live in Pinner. Is there any other criteria ? I have calculated the straight line distance which is 16.3 miles.

The link that scary posted is to a file that I created (and have maintained for more years than I care to remember):
https://drive.google.com/a/elevenplusex ... UE/preview" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It shows that for RGS 2012 & 2013 admission, even for the second round, you would not have stood a chance of gaining a place under the new "straight line" distance measurement.

In previous years (driving distance measurement), only in 2011 and 2008 would there have been a chance of a place.

That's 8 years of Allocations data, and on only two occasions would there have been a chance of getting a place.

25% chance, at the very best.

Chesham would be much easier from Pinner than RGS. A someone else has said, quite a few do it.
