An interesting post.
In regards to 'dim' upper classes. My experience of quite a few is that they have become very unhappy people. Private incomes mean that they don't have to work at all or not very hard so have no purpose/goal in life. Being able to call on uncle such and such or your father's old school pal does not enable, it disables. Many end up with severe mental health issues taking large quantities of drugs, spending their lives partying and even eventually dead from the former. There is as much discrimination against the upper classes as there is against any other minority (often more) A silver spoon is not always silver. Struggle is good for the soul, good for motivation

There is definitly some truth in that Eccentric, you only have to look at the offspring of celebrities. But for most life is eased by having parents who can step in financially when necessary.
