Junior Schools in Beaconsfield High Catchment

We were planning to move to Aylesbury but I think the commute is probably not realistic...

What are the junior schools around Beaconsfield like? (BTW: We are not religious!)

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Tylers Green Middle school is very good and in high demand (therefore you'd have to move very close to it).

But in general you need to do some homework first e.g. find out which schools actually have a ready-and-waiting place if you are trying to enter at any time other than the normal application round (for the September of Year 3). On this front, you may find it difficult to get into the allegedly better schools.

You should also find out which combined schools take new entrants at Year 3, how many places they have to fill, and whether in past years they have managed to fill them.

(PS: You may not be religious but do you have plenty of dosh?! House prices are generally more expensive around Beaconsfield when compared to Aylesbury)

Hi SVE

Good advice from Dad40. The following link will help to give you an indication of where there might be spaces at primary schools - pages 11 - 13:

http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/moderngov/Pub ... Public.pdf

The pressure points, schools where not all children in catchment could be admitted, were:

Chestnut Lane School
Bledlow Ridge School
Haddenham Community Infant School
Haddenham St Mary’s CE School
Little Chalfont School
Spinfield School, Marlow
St Mary’s CE School, Aylesbury
Tylers Green First School
West Wycombe Combined School

Not an answer as such, but another step on the way perhaps? :D

Best wishes

And a bit more info........!

Possible primary schools:

St Mary’s and All Saints CE
Seer Green CE
Holtspur
Butlers Court
Hazlemere CE
Holmer Green Junior
Cedar Park
Widmer End
Manor Farm Junior
Tylers Green Middle
Curzon CE
Farnham Common
The Meadows
St Pauls CE
Juniper Hill

Note however that Becky High's allocation zone does not cover the whole catchment area. Reckon on living a maximum of 6 miles (shortest route) from the school gate. And don't forget that most kids are NOT selected for grammar school so look hard at upper schools before making the leap.

Here are the allocation profiles for primary schools this year:

Is there any reason why Carrington Junior is not on the above list?

Hi Jayne

It is! The infant school is on the first link, the junior school is on the second.

I think Jayne meant my own cobbled-together list.....and therein lies a hint about why Carrington was omitted i.e. it wasn't a very scientific list ! :D

Many thanks for the info.

I take your point about houses and dosh. That is a problem... I haven't written off Aylesbury completely yet.
