He's back! (Pete Rowe, Head of Princes Risborough School, and resident Snow Poet on the BCC school closures web page):

Is it a will or is it a won’t Damned if I do, damned if I don’t!
School could open at the mo’ But forecast says, ‘Continuous snow’
From ten onwards it’s going to drop And seemingly never stop!
To avoid a parental traffic snarl up Both me and Alfie, the school pup,
Have decided in both poetry and prose It’s time for PRS to close!
Enjoy this unexpected perk But also access online work.
Keep looking at social media feed We’ll update them as we need.
School motto is as you perceive; ‘PRS Enjoy and Achieve’!

Haha! DS2 was halfway to school when they decided to close today. The coaches had to take them all home again!

It is such a difficult call for Heads. Damned if you do, and if don't risk having no buses to send them home on at the end of the school day if weather deteriotes.

And again, for tomorrow's closure :D :

Closure sonnet!

Time to create poetry not prose.
Continuously come down the flakes;
Out the window I can see it snows.
Always large flurries and with no breaks.
Roads are icy with cars sliding around
Many staff struggling to get through their lane
No coaches willing to be villages bound.
Journeys would be started all in vain.
Decision to be made nice and early
So finally the words you want to hear
Stopping the morning hurley-burley.
The large ‘still closed’ sign must now appear.
Having time with our families to spend.
Enjoy the start of a long weekend;
