Buckinghamshire waiting list movement

Hi All,

Been following this forum for a while but this is my first post (so be gentle ).
Does anyone know how much movement there has been historically on the waiting lists for Royal Latin Grammar School.
I was informed today that I am 5th on the waiting list - I have no idea whether that is good or bad.

What I do know is that 50th on the waiting list for Aylesbury Grammar, and 53rd on the list for Sir Henry Floyd is BAD!!!!

Traditionally, I'm afraid, RLS doesn't move much; there's not an alternative very close to it.

I would suggest an appeal if you really want the school.

Yep, I can't imagine why anybody would get Royal Latin Grammar School and decide not to go.
Appeal has already been submitted.
Does anyone know where I can get historical PAN v actual numbers for RLS?

Strangely their PAN is 174 yet there are 30 desks in each classroom! I've never understood this.

You will get numbers on roll in your appeal information.

You need to make a case as to why this is the best school for your child [don't mention GS or specialisms as they aren't funded now]

Oops!! Already mentioned both in my appeal letter - will downplay it at the face-to-face appeal - thanks for the tip!!

Have a look at the sticky topic at the top of the page to see previous years' allocations and how the distances changed in previous years. It's Wycombe High School you're looking for (at the bottom of the list on page one).

It moved a bit last year, not at all in 2016 and a little bit in 2015. It's probably not worth going back any further, it won't tell you much. The fact that there has been no movement between 1st March and 10th April this year suggests it's unlikely to move at all. At 8th on the waiting list I suggest you prepare to attend your allocated school. Which school is that?

Yes, but they are very small desks, G55, and we all know that children these days are getting bigger!

Seriously, though, with all the space being freed up as a result of the new block and the promise of further development in the future, I think an appeal panel would be sympathetic to the idea of allowing a few over PAN. It's certainly worth asking the question at Stage 1, but of course you still have to make a strong individual case at Stage 2. The school might argue that it needs that extra space in the classroom in case a support worker is needed for a disabled student, which is fair enough, but this is unlikely to be the case for all six tutor groups.
