EHCP admissions - do they over-ride the 11+?

I can't see anything concrete on their website about whether an EHCP over-rides the 11+

Their admissions policy states:

"Children who qualify and who have statements of Special Educational Needs or Education, Health and Care
Plans, that name the school will be admitted prior to the application of the admission rules."

It looks like your DC will need to gain a qualifying score. The named school EHCP will simply place them at the top of the list for the allocation of places. That said the named school EHCP may help at an appeal.

I’m guessing one would need to put forward some alternative academic evidence such as ed psych assessment reports in this instance...

For the avoidance of doubt - I don't want him to go there! However, it would be cheaper for the LA to send him there rather than the specialist school he is currently in. The only thing I can think of is that they are mixing up the types of grammar schools. In Herts (where we are) there are no pure grammar schools, only semi-selective schools, so it's possible that they haven't realised that they are different in Bucks. I'm sure CGS will put them right

Ah...makes sense...we are probably used to assuming all parents are trying to get their child into a grammar school on this site...rather than working hard to avoid....

Then why have you requested for the school to be named on the EHCP Would it not make more sense to name a school that you do want your DC to go to?
